With enough resources, we’d only use open source technology. But there are some things that are almost impossible to do at the small-scale without using commercial platforms like Mailchimp, Eventbrite, and Zoom.
Mailchimp makes it possible for us to manage an email announcement list that complies with the anti-spam measures put in place by Gmail and other large-scale email platforms. Eventbrite provides a scaleable and inexpensive way to register participants for workshops, forums, and conferences.
Given the pandemic, we use Zoom for meetings and other events. Zoom is a powerful tool but has some major drawbacks in terms of privacy. Participants will be informed of privacy and data limitations of this platform at the beginning of meetings and other events.
